‘Into the Woods Jr.’ brings fairy tales to Albuquerque
Musical Theater Southwest’s young performers take a lighter, spooky journey through familiar fairy tales. Musical Theatre Southwest is staging "Into the Woods Jr.," its second Theater Arts Collective show, opening on Friday, Oct. 23 and running through Nov. 1. The Collective, a conservatory-like program run by MTS, is run by Natalie Hadley, who helped create the collective and is the show director. The show was designed to further the Albuquerque educational system, which is underprivileged and lacks much of the theater education needed in Albuquerque. The junior version of the show is different from the original version and includes only Act 1, the more lighthearted part of the production. The cast chose Stephen Sondheim for their roles, as they wanted to stay with him.
