Could New Mexico launch its own 2028 contender?

An early Democratic primary could elevate New Mexico’s influence — and its political leaders’ national prospects. New Mexico is set to hold the fourth Democratic presidential primary contest in 2028, pending legislation to make the date official. This could elevate New Mexico leaders such as Martin Heinrich, Ben Ray Luján and Michelle Lujan Grisham onto the national stage.
