Planned Parenthood Opens Second Albuquerque Clinic
Albuquerque just got a second Planned Parenthood clinic — and it nearly doubles the city's abortion care capacity. Planned Parenthood has opened a second health clinic in Albuquerque, which is expected to nearly double its capacity to provide abortions and other family planning services in the city. The new clinic, located at Washington and Silver SE, will treat local residents while continuing to serve patients who cannot access care at home. It will offer abortion, birth control, hormone therapy, STI testing and treatment, and will also provide peer counseling for LGBTQ youth. The expansion took four years to complete, despite recent turbulence in national abortion politics. Since 2021, Planned Parenthood in New Mexico has served nearly 10,000 out-of-state patients, primarily from Texas, and last year treated approximately 12,000 patients across its four New Mexico clinics. The Guttmacher Institute found that abortions provided to out-state residents in New New Mexico fell from 13,000 in 2024 to 10,00 in 2025, and telehealth abortion provision to residents of states with total bans climbed from 74,000 to 91,000 over the same stretch. The state's clinic footprint has been uneven since 2017, with several clinics closing due to a shortage of health care providers.
