After lengthy delay, Cleveland mercy-rules Albuquerque High
A two-hour delay wasn't enough to hinder Cleveland's undefeated season Cleveland High School's football team defeated Albuquerque High 50-0 in a mercy-rule game at Cleveland High School on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026. The game was delayed due to a storm that threatened to disrupt the game. Despite the weather conditions, Cleveland managed to get the game started in an abbreviated fashion. The Storm (9-0, 6-0 1-6A), led 36-0 after the first quarter and ended the game at halftime under the mercy rule. Head Coach Robert Garza praised his team's performance, stating they were ready to play and were proud of their performance. Cleveland's regular-season finale will be against rival Rio Rancho, who are expected to stand between the Storm and a perfect season.
